Nestled in the heart of the Southern North Island, rich in history and culture, the Manawatu region is fast becoming a desirable location for people to live and work.  With affordable housing, a strong sense of community, easy access to the great outdoors and a stone’s throw from big city utilities, this location is on the rise!

Ernslaw has forests right across this region and we are looking to grow the talent in our team to help us achieve better outcomes for our business, industry and the planet!  With climate change upon us, our industry is working through how we can transform our operational processes. We are actively involved in industry research, trialing new technologies and practices and we are working with stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

To help us on this journey, we are looking for a Harvesting Supervisor for our Titoki Forest.  Ideally, you will be located in Dannevirke, but this forest is commutable from Palmerston North and surrounding areas.  Key responsibilities in this role are:

·        Partnering with harvesting crews in a mechanised environment

·        Supporting a strong H&S culture& environmental compliance framework

·        Delivering agreed production targets ensuring quality standards are met & value is maximised

·        Building positive, long-term working partnerships with contractors who are aligned with our          values

·        Providing input into harvesting improvements by actively connecting with colleagues across          our regions and working on innovation projects

·        Identifying and solving operational problems in a supported team environment

·        Knowing your numbers and being able to make informed and timely decisions

Our region has an annual harvesting programme of ~700,000 tonnes and our operations are fully mechanised.  We have a mix of terrain so knowledge of different harvesting configurations is important for this role along with a good understanding of the health & safety and environmental compliance requirements.

This role will suit individuals who are confident in their own ability, deliver results, communicate effectively, enjoy working as part of a team and know their way around codes of practice and systems.

Ernslaw offer attractive pay and benefits such as full health insurance for self & family, life insurance, private use of vehicle, professional development, relocation support and flexible work options.
