Canine Cool Running

Our Naseby forest recently played host to the Southern Regions Sled Dog Club and their pedigree pals as around 40 competitors took part in races as part of its Origin2025 events.
The competitors were split across a number of events in different formats including with the humans on foot, on bikes and in different age groups involved from ‘peewee' to practiced senior.
The races are good fun for the whole family and a great way for these specially-bred dogs and their families to run off some energy during the colder months.

These events are run by well organised and sanctioned by Sled Dog Clubs that prioritise animal welfare and the health and safety of the participants. As part of their standard protocols, a vet is on-hand for the duration of the events.
Ernslaw One and our team at the Naseby forest have a long association with the sled dog racing community, having hosted their events in past years. This year’s event was made a little more special thanks to the team being able to manage our health and safety protocols in order to give the club course access to a use a new section of the working forest.
The events is rewarding for the local community, with competitors and their friends and family travelling into the region and utilising the local accommodation and hospitality offerings - like the Naseby Royal Hotel which was the venue for the event prizegiving.
As one participant summed it up in their facebook post – “As always a race not to be missed! …
Thanks all for a good, clean, fun weekend!”
