New Hi-Vis vests keep kids safe

Tapanui Primary School’s 72 students are now proudlysporting brand new high-visibility vests, thanks to the support of Ernslaw One.The donation ensures that every child is more visible and safer on theirjourney to and from school—whether they walk, bike or take the bus.
Tapanui School Principal, Jane Stuart, says the vests are notjust a good idea but a part of the school’s Health and Safety policy.
“Ernslaw recognises the importance of health and safety in the forest, and we recognise the importance of keeping our children safe as they travel. This donation directly supports our policy to ensure every student is visible and protected,” she said.
“It is great to be supported by a local company and Ernslaw’s contribution means a lot to our school and our families.”
The hi-vis vests are a regular part of the school day.Students wear them to and from school and whenever they’re off-site—on trips, camps, and excursions. The vests are so popular, teachers often have to remindstudents to take them off in class.
Ernslaw One’s Harvesting Manager, Tony Livingston, said thedonation reflects a shared value.
“Some of our local team members went to Tapanui School and thentheir children attended so there’s a long history. We’re delighted to be able to help the school out.We both place a high priority on health and safety—for our people, and for ourcommunity’s children.”
